14 tips to tighten loose skin 🙋

After having three babies within 15 months of each other and being seriously over stretched by my rather big twin boys, weighing 6.1lb and 5.11lb at 5 weeks early, it’s fair to say my body has taken a battering. Now after losing around 39lbs in the space of 6 months it’s time to tone up and sort out my sagging skin 🙈

IMG_4546.JPG

Having done a lot of research, I’ve made a list of 14 tips, all home remedies that I will be using a lot religiously from now on 💪

Here we go…

1. Limit sun exposure – no tanning, no sun beds (not that I usually do but anyone else out their who does and wants to improve their skin this ones for you!!)

2. Mineral/salt scrubs – increases blood flow, get a good loofa too, twice a day if you are committed – at least 3 times a week

3. Collagen cream – our skin in made from collagen, this makes it easily accepted into our bodies. I have been using a good collagen cream but not religiously! Time to up a notch!

4. Weight training – adding weights to your exercise regime, toning up helps the appearance of sagging skin.

5. Hydration – hydrate your body, hydrate your skin! Try at least 8 glasses a day!

6. Yoga – relieve stress, be more flexible and lose weight, this is supposed to help your skin be flexible after a few weeks.

7. Fruit and vegetable – with a high water content helping to hydrate and lots of vitamins and minerals eating at least 5 portions a day is key.

8. Raw foods – included in your portions, raw is 100% better for you, keeps all the nutrients locked in.

9. Lean protein – helps to build muscle, creating a more toned look and contains collagen and other nutrients our skin needs. After working out is best to boost muscle mass.

10. Avoid junk food – high fat foods are only going to add weight on, with those few stubborn pounds left under the skin that needs tightening this is not going to help! Avoid at all costs.

11. Essential oils – lavender and almond are the two I will be using, lavender is supposedly one of the best and requires a few tsps a night (this seems quite a lot to me!) almond oil – 1tsp every night, also supposed to help with the appearance of stretch marks, here’s hoping!

12. Tightening mask – a single egg white mask on your stomach three times a week…hmm interesting!!

13. Tightening astringent – made from honey 1 tsp, witch hazel 1 tbsp and Rosemary – which is supposed to help improve circulation.

14. Firming creams – it’s suggested to look for ones with natural ingredients, Vitamin E & A as well as collagen creams.

Now, all the boring facts are out the way, let’s go for the opinions!!

A lot of the suggestions sound a bit odd, some sound totally mad! But I’m going to give them all ago at some point!

Tuesday the 6th December

As it stands I’ve started using a few already. Last night in the shower I used a body scrub and loofa, I have to say as soon as I stepped out of the shower I noticed instantly how smooth my skin was! I don’t think I could comment on tighter skin.

Afterwards I used Nip & Fab’s tummy fix firming gel. I like the way it smells and can tell it goes into the skin well rather than sitting on the top from the texture my skin feels after applying. I’ve also applied this morning too, I will doing this twice daily, morning and night.

This morning I also tried lavender and almond oil. This is VERY potent!! I only used a few drops of lavender and more almond oil, I would definitely suggest using this at night time rather than the morning. Not sure if it’s made a real difference, however I know this one is a patience game.

IMG_4548.JPG

I’ll also be using my collagen cream once a day too. I have definitely seen improvements with this over the past year but I have not been as consistent as I’d have liked to!

Daily diet:

I have a pretty good diet already, I eat mainly gluten and dairy free, use plat based protein, as well as a lot of lean protein and eat good carbs like sweet potato. I also take my Juice Plus+ premium capsules which have the essence of 26 different types of fresh, ripe, raw fruit & veg! Which is good as I know that if I don’t mange all 5 of my portions each day, I have pumped good nutrients straight into my blood stream already!

Water could be taken up a notch but I do drink a lot of green and herbal teas which I count in my water intake.

Exercise
I have recently started rebounding (using a mini trampoline called a rebounder) it’s good cardio but low impact. I also do some weight training but will be upping this and doing daily alongside my rebounding. I’m also looking for local yoga classes too!

I know this isn’t going to be an over night transformation so I will only be taking progress pictures once a week, I’m going hardcore and using all of these daily and will be adding in others as we go through the process!

Determined to get in a bikini this year 💪

If anyone has had any experience with good products or home made remedies I’d be really interested to hear about them or if you’d like to talk more in further detail, send me a message 💚

Whole family wholefood

In the past 7 months I have taken a few simple steps towards a healthier lifestyle. Through that I have influenced my friends, family and more to make just a few simple changes too.

Swapping builders tea to green tea, changing cows milk to gluten free & dairy free milks. Even just sweet potatoes replacing regular ones!

IMG_7250.JPG

When people say they are eating healthy and then doing things like adding dollops of “fat free” Mayo to their salad. We have been let down by the government and our education system, because we have zero education on good nutrition so how are we supposed to pass what we don’t know onto our children?!

In the past 7 months I have listened to many medical professionals talk about prevention and how good nutrition can truly help in all areas of life and across all generations.

I’ve gained incredible knowledge about food and how to fuel my body to its full potential, however I find the word healthy living too flimsy, I’m not a vegan, nor vegetarian, my food can be classed as clean eating. But I still don’t feel as though this is a strong enough word to use!

Therefore I have invented my own saying “PureLiving” to LiveLifePure

Why Pure?

We go back to basics, paleo, caveman diets, they all survived on food that was grown or had lived, it is our modern day society that has created fizzy drinks, chocolate, fast food, microwave meals, etc. If it wasn’t in our faces or created in the first place, we would know no difference.

So by making simple baby steps we are slowly moving towards a healthier happier life!

For me the biggest impact of all is the impact it has had upon my beautiful boys! In the evening I cook one meal that we all share, we eat as a family and it is so much less hassle, PLUS I know that I am not only giving my own body the best chance in life, but I am giving my boys the best start to their little lives.

Our gluten free pizza! Super yum!!

My target was to make 2014 the healthiest, happiest year yet and I’ve definitely accomplished that. One more month to go and I’ll be the fittest ever too 💪 bring on the Christmas parties!

Beauty from the inside out for all generations ❤️

Why?

Why can be the beginning of many questions!

Why is the sky blue?

Why am I always tired?

Why did this happen to me?

But recently the word why has meant something more to me!

“MY why…”
The reason you get out of bed in the morning, the smile on your face, your motivation.

Now for you that could be:

Money
Cars
New outfit
The weekend
Family
Friends
Partners
Time
Health

These are MY whys…

IMG_4323.JPG

Nathaniel 2 years old, Jude & Luca 9 months old.

In the past 6 months my ultimate goals and visions for the future have changed dramatically, but my three little men have always stayed right at the top!

Right now I am in the best health possible, I am full of energy (even though I don’t sleep), have a super strong immune system, the best condition growing hair, plus loads more, but also I am 4lbs off of my 3st lost milestone!

IMG_4279.JPG

Another why…

Why do I choose gold? My nan died at 52 from bowel cancer. My mum is 46 and was diagnosed with crohns this year & spends too much time in hospital.

I WILL NOT WAIT TO GET ILL! I will not wait until its too late.

I will spend a healthy happy long life with my boys and i will not sacrifice my time to a job i don’t love, to a disease i could have prevented.

So I will spend 1.90 a day for the rest of my life to make sure i give my body the best chance possible! 27 different varieties of fruit, veg & berries in a capsule, quick, easy, convenient and my boy gets his for free too!

Sacrifice money or time? I know what my choice is!

Time is free but so precious and this is what I want to teach my friends, family & anyone who will listen.

Feel free to message, comment, find me on facebook, insta, twitter, email! Always happy to chat.

Thanks for reading x

Fight for FITigue

When the twins were born in January my mum was signed off work, she has had quite a lot of trouble with her health in the past and the medical professions struggled to diagnose her.

Eventually after many tests and lots of waiting time they diagnosed her with ulcerated colitis and Crohn’s disease. Now for those who don’t know what Crohn’s is, it’s a bowel issue and sufferers cannot tolerate the digestion of fruits, veg & berries, which is exactly what they need to help them to get better.

In the past three months, I have lost 24 lbs, have improved immune system, hair, skin, nails, my hayfever has past AND I have an amazing energy boost every day from 26 fruits, veg and berries! When I started on the product I joined the business after a week and it has been the best decision I ever made. A £50 investment, that’s helped me earn my own living, around my boys, allows me to help others but now I have the opportunity to do something much bigger!

My nan died at 52 from bowel cancer, at the moment with the problems my mum is having she could be going down the same route. She is now 46 that gives me 6 years to stop history from repeating itself. My boys are all under two but my youngest brother is 10, I would do anything in my will power to prevent history from repeating.

I was probably in the business for a month before I found the document on Juice Plus and Crohn’s disease. It was definitely one of those butterfly moments reading the document.

To put it as simply as possible because the 26 fresh, ripe, raw fruit, veg & berries in the capsules have already been digested and are absorbed into the body, also known as whole foods by introducing them slowly and steadily, in the long term the capsules can help improve sufferers symptoms, they could help reduce medication and actually help them to tolerate fresh fruit & veg!

Now side effects range from needing to be close to a toilet to having a low immune system and recently there has been quite a lot of press on raising awareness for Crohn’s. However, there is one side effect which does not get talked about often, that is fatigue. Fatigue is a massive issue for people who have Crohn’s and I’ve witnessed it with my mother.

So from today we are starting up a campaign “Fight for FITigue!”

Obviously I am aware that there are other things in life that can linked with fatigue eg pregnancy, arthritis, age, anaemia, diabetese, and many more.

I know that personally the little sleep I get with twins has left me running on empty some days, and if it weren’t for the energy boost I get from 26 f&v everyday that if I had to go without some days I don’t know how I’d make it to bed time!

I have set myself a goal of helping 100 IBD sufferers in the next year, which averages around 2per week, being a matter close to my heart this is one of my BIG whys!

This is by no means a cure and I definitely am not claiming to be a medical professions, an expert or anything other than a mother of three small boys trying to make a difference to other peoples lives.

Watching my mum suffer, in particular the past six months, makes my heart ache and if I could help to save other daughters, sons, grandchildren, family, friends from a little heart ache and help them regain their health and feel fit in themselves, then that will mean more than words can describe.

Let’s fight for FITigue together because everybody deserves it!

Here’s a 1 minute video made by my boys & I. We’d love you to watch and feel free to share!

90 days can change your life…

In 90 days you can begin to grow a little person inside of you, to the point where you can see a visible image during a scan, not only that but you can also see how many little people you’re growing inside of you.

I found out I was having twins at an emergency scan just before my 12 week scan, the doctors were worried I was having an ectopic pregnancy due to pains in my abdomen. They were in fact just stretching pains making room for two cheeky monkeys!

It took another three months to find out they were breech and transverse (higledey pigledey!) and I didn’t make it to the end of the last three months as they just got too big my body couldn’t handle them anymore, born at 35 weeks weighing 6.1lbs and 5.11lbs the biggest babies in Special Care, let alone the biggest set of twins!!!

The first 90 days of their little lives were firstly spent in hospital, for an aching 16 days away from Nathaniel, but then spent with my three little lads and me coping with getting to grips in the next chapter of our lives. By the time they were three months old I had managed to get them into a solid bed time routine and although I was (and still am) up every three hours feeding them, I had my evenings back and the horrible colic stage was over.

I suddenly went from having no spare time and constantly having a baby attached to me to having a little bit of free time each night. At this point I was also looking for a way to swift the twin weight! One of my lovely friends, Gemma Edens, had been posting her weight loss progress and the meals she was eating looked amazing, real food and losing weight!? I have to say I was a doubter to begin with!

After having a chat with her about the plans and what would be best for me, she offered me a job opportunity within her team, working from home and in my own hours. I was interested as I was starting to get sick of my own company in the evenings and I like to keep busy! However, I said I wanted to see how I went on the plan and see if I liked it. I lost 5lbs in my first week of detox and couldn’t believe the change, I was hooked. If I could eat this much healthy food that was not only good for me but that I could also lose weight while eating, then it was definitely something I wanted to share with others! I joined the day I weighed in, a £50 investment that would change my life.

I’m just about to hit the end of my first 90 days in the business, Nathaniel’s just turned 21 months and the twins will be 6 months on the 4th. The last 3 months I have built my own business from home on my iPhone/iPad around watching my boys growing, playing, making a mess, screaming, all the normal mummy baby things. Having had to rely on income support to keep my family a float, I have now been able to “close my account” as they like to phrase it!

I have over 50 lovely customers, I’ve just hit my third promotion in three months to Sales Coordinator and now have a team of 11 strong. The past weekend I have been at an inspiring conference, “The 90 Day Game Plan” listening to inspiring people map out the next 90 days for myself and the rest of my team, to hit National Marketing Directors of our own franchises!

90 days on with a total of 21lbs weight loss, hitting three promotions, building a team, running the house hold and looking after my gorgeous boys…I am very excited to see where the next 90 days will take us!

And it all kicks off with my first proper event on the 5th July in the Blue Boar in Witney from 2pm, if you’re local come along and here more about my journey so far.

I’ll see you there…

20140625-143503.jpg

A year from now…

Around this time last year I found out I was pregnant. We had just moved into our first family home, renting a flat in Witney, it wasn’t ideal for one baby let alone more. In that same week we got offered a 2 bed house in Woodstock and Anthony got offered his PGCE place in Birmingham. They say news travels in threes!?

There was no question to whether I would keep it or not. Yes, I was supposed to be returning to my last year at Rose Bruford but a family to me was worth a lot more than a degree. So it was just a matter of logistics.

When we went to see the house we kind of fell in love, even through the jungle out back and awful decor. That was one problem solved anyway. We both discussed and agreed that it was best for Anthony to get his teaching qualification this year than to wait longer to be earning a proper income. Therefore the plan was that Anthony would live in Birmingham for the year and come back on weekends to see us. Which meant technically I’d be a single parent, and at this time we only thought it would be one baby.

It wasn’t long before we got the news of our multiple arrival and the plan still stayed the same. Technically being a single parent with Anthony not earning either left me having to claim income support. Good old benefits hey!

I found it extremely embarrassing having to ask for help, other than the odd loan from my dad, I’ve always worked and made my own money. We shouldn’t be embarrassed to ask for help when we need it and I am sure a lot of you have your own opinions on the benefit system. But it’s not a proud moment for me.

When the twins were born I had to ring up to claim they were alive, it doesn’t change your amount it just means that you are not expected to work then until the child/children are around a year old and I wouldn’t have to attend any interviews. Can you imagine taking twin babies and a toddler to the job centre!? I can think of better things to do with my day!

When we were home from hospital I started receiving letters about going in for an interview and each time I would ring up and explain my situation and they would apologise and tell me that I did not need to attend. The last letter I received I rang up about and explained and they told me that it was compulsory as they needed to check that my children were actually alive.

I don’t have a triple push chair so this would mean me struggling with the three of them on my own! Luckily my dad was around and he took time off from his own business to come with us. We managed to get there reasonably on time with my three babies and got called over by this woman. Now if you’ve never been in a job centre, it’s pretty open with lots of desks and as we went past some of the employees they cooed and commented on the twins, however, the woman interviewing me did not! I should have known then. She went through general details checking everything was up to date. We then came to Anthony. She continued to say that I was choosing to be on benefits because I would not move to Birmingham and when I reminded her that he was student, she said that was his choice. She was so nasty to me that I was crying, while rocking the twins who were getting miserable. So I said, “Find me a job that pays more than £15 an hour? Because that’s what it would cost me in child care!” She literally accused me of being a benefit fraud. I have never felt so little and horrible in my entire life that my throat literally tightens while I write this. There are so many people out there who scam benefits here and there, but because Anthony was a student trying to better himself and get a degree for a higher paying job to provide for us that wasn’t good enough. They basically want anyone of job seekers or income support to get any job no matter what it pays or whether it’s suitable. Perhaps if we encouraged people to learn more or find an actual career then there would be less people having to claim those benefits.

From that day, I had had enough. I needed a way to make money for my family and avoid ever having one of those interviews ever again.

That’s when I found Juice Plus! My friend from a previous job offered me a place on her team and after a week of being on the weight loss plan I agreed. I cost me £50 to join, it was a company that was 40 years old with a 20 year old product, backed by doctors a product that worked for me and would benefit my whole family.

I only did 5 orders in my first month but I didn’t let it get me down, because I truly believed this could help so many people with their health as well as their weight issues. The month just gone, May, was my second month, I’ve hit my first big promotion Senior Direct Distributor (SDD) and now have a team of seven below me. I have not only improved mine, my boys, my extended family and friends health but yesterday I rang income support and closed my account. Might sound silly but I could literally cry! No more hand outs from them and no more horrible interview with judgmental people.

I wash 28 bottles on average a day, I change on average 17 nappies a day, I have a 20 month old and 5 month old twins and I run a business. A business that cares about improving peoples lives all around! I’ve now lost 16lbs and 9 inches after 8 weeks of being on the weight loss plan, my hay fever has cleared up, it’s helped my twins health and Nathaniel’s too.

I’m no where near my peak and I can’t wait to see what this is going to do for me and my boys. I work for them, they are my why and they are the only reason I will succeed and make all of our dreams come true. It took twins for me to get my life in order and I know where I’ll be a year from now.

Where will you be a year from now?

Peace x

A day in the life of us

The boys and I have been working on a little project! All their idea of course!!

We’ve been busy filming an average day for us, even including a trip to Nannys. On average I wash 28 bottles and change 18 nappies – on average!

It’s short, only the length of the happy song ( Nathaniel’s favourite ) , just a snapshot of what we do day to day and how we try to be healthy too.

JP is so easy to fit into our lifestyle I just love it and so do my boys!

Hope you enjoy!

because we’re happy
